Angelina Jolie Visits Walter Reed Medical Center

by Randi

uso1

So yesterday we had a bit of news about Brad, and how his motorcycle left him stranded and at the mercy of the paparazzi. Thankfully the paparazzi was there to help!

And today we have a story about Angelina. On June 19th the celebrity visited the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She got to meet and speak with patients at the center and bring a bit of joy during her visit!

Thanks to the USO Facebook page, we get to see beautiful photos of Angelina during her USO handshake tour.

Enjoy the photos, and don’t forget to head on over to the USO Facebook page, where you can learn more about the USO, the work they do, and the celebrities who support them. And head over to USO Metro, where you can learn how to make a donation in order to support the troops who serve our country and their families. We may not be able to actually be Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt, but we can all do a little something in order to support causes we believe in, just like they do.

Paparazzi Gives Brad Pitt a Ride!

What happens when you’re Brad Pitt and your motorcycle suddenly stops working? You make the paparazzi work for their money!

Brad’s motorcycle broke down in Franklyn Village in Los Angeles and the Paparazzi were there to lend him a hand! No word on where, exactly, they dropped him off - I’m going to assume that they didn’t drop him off at home, as that would just be way too weird.

It’s nice to see that there are some nice paparazzo out there. And don’t you just LOVE the helmet! I think it’s adorable! I love how Brad and Angelina incorporate their children’s artwork into their everyday lives - it’s a great way of getting keepsakes! I wonder if he got this for Father’s Day?!

Also below is the Softbank commercial that Brad was filming a few months ago. Came out pretty good, didn’t it?!

Hey guys - I’m sorry I haven’t posted today. I’ve had a bit of a rough day (and a very long one). There’s really no new news going on, which is GOOD news for them and boring for us.

So I thought maybe I should spice things up a bit with a few photos. Do these work?

Things To Look Forward To

by Randi

basterds3

The news on the Jolie-Pitt front is still quiet, but remember - this always happens! We see tons of them for awhile and then we see nothing. I actually like the fact that they’re getting to spend some time together as a family this summer - after all, kids love summer! It’s their chance to go to the beach and to enjoy just being kids for awhile. My two are both out for the summer and are busy with swimming lessons (a must!) and driving each other (and me) crazy. But I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I have heard rumors that the two are both in LA, which kind of surprises me, as I would have thought they’d both be together in France or New Orleans, but maybe they’re in LA because Brad’s still trying to revive Moneyball? Who knows! The script was actually leaked online (I tried to get a link to it - it’s been taken down, dang it), which usually means the end for a film, but maybe not!

So let’s try to figure out when we WILL see them and what we have to look forward to. With these two it’s almost impossible to figure out exactly when they’ll pop up, but we can definitely be sure that we’ll see them around the time of a movie being released. Inglourious Basterds is up first and has a slated release of August 20th (or 21st - I have conflicting reports on that). So we’ll definitely be seeing Brad and Angie together for the release of that film! While I’m definitely going to see it, and I’m interested to see Brad in a role playing a tough guy again, it definitely seems like it’s going to be a long movie to watch!

And then there’s SALT. Director Philip Noyce thinks that we’re going to love and be very impressed by this movie.

“The major thing the audience is going to find is that the movie’s a showcase for the incredibly diverse talents of Angelina Jolie. And when I say “incredibly”, that’s not an understatement. Incredibly diverse. I mean, as we know, she’s a brilliant dramatic actress. Without a doubt. That’s been proven. But - you know, she’s also, in ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’, and the ‘Tomb Raider’ films, she’s shown that she can kick ass as good as any man.

“And in this film, she gets to do both. And she does both in a way that I think will startle audiences. It’s highly dramatic, it’s highly emotional.

“It’s a thrill a minute.”

Which movie are you most looking forward to?

Other New: RIP Fawcett and Jackson

by Randi

fawcettjackson

I know this is a blog about Brad Pitt and his family, but I have to talk about this.

Today, June 25th, both Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson passed away.

The two have almost nothing in common and yet will definitely be missed around the world.

Farrah Fawcett was a wonderful and bright spirit. She is most well known for her character on Charlie’s Angels but was a strong actress who played in many other movies and shows.

Michael Jackson was the King of Pop and even though there were many controversies surrounding him, he gave much to charity and to the world.

They will both be missed.

I will get back to Brad news tomorrow. I promise.

Let’s Have It Out Here: Are Brad and Angelina Separating? Discussion Post

by Randi

angelinajoliebradpitt_27

Once again the couple has gone into hiding, which is great for them and rough for us. This means no new pictures and, of course, the rumors that they’re separating again. This time, however, the rumors are far worse than they’ve been in awhile, which is likely because the couple has been seen in so many different places, alone, lately than they have in awhile.

From the comments that I’m reading here, and on other sites, lots of people are battling this out. Some believe that nothing could ever break Brad and Angelina up, while others believe that they’re already separated.

I believe that the two are very busy people and that they had things going on that they needed to attend to. And now? My guess is that now the two have gone into hiding and are enjoying some of the summer months with their children and with each other. What do you think?

Father’s Day for Brad Pitt and Moneyball Dropped

by Randi

6cztily

Hey guys! I’m sorry I didn’t post this morning - my family and I headed out to spend Father’s Day with our favorite guy at a Christmas-themed amusement park that’s fairly near my home. We spent all day there and have only just gotten back.

But where I dropped the ball with timing, I won’t drop it with info! First of all let me wish a wonderful Happy Father’s day to a great dad - Brad Pitt! And chances are he had plenty of time to spend with his kids because…

Sony has dropped Moneyball.

The film was set to begin shooting tomorrow (Monday) morning but apparently the higher ups in Sony have decided that the script that they were going to shoot is too far removed from the script that was given the green light to feel comfortable shooting the film. This means that they either have to find a new financial backer or the script will be sentenced to being forgotten about.

And while this kind of stinks for Brad, I’m sure that he’ll have another movie to film soon (if Moneyball isn’t revived) and while he’s in waiting he can spend plenty of time with his favorite people - his family!

Included below is a photo of the new Inglourious Basterds poster from Italy (which is just really sweet) as well as a few photos of Brad on his motorcycle in LA yesterday! And, of course, some of my favorite “Brad as Dad” photos.

Enjoy and I hope that all the fathers out there had a great Father’s Day!

Angelina Jolie’s Interview with Ann Curry

by Randi

I love interviews with both Brad and Angie, and I always love interviews when they’re talking to Ann Curry. Here’s Angelina Jolie’s interview with Ann Curry that aired this morning on NBC.

Angelina Jolie’s Interview with Anderson Cooper

by Randi

There’s just something about Anderson Cooper…he’s kind of sexy, no? Anyway, here is most of the interview that occurred between Cooper and Jolie last night…let me know what you think if you haven’t seen it yet!

A Bit of Angelina Jolie’s Interview with Anderson Cooper

by Randi

Angelina’s interview with Anderson Cooper will be airing in a few minutes here on the east coast (where I am) and I’ll definitely be watching, and posting a video when possible, but here is a sneak peek of what she’s going to be talking about with Cooper!

On her and Brad Pitt’s recent donation to refugee aid in Pakistan:

ANDERSON COOPER: You and Brad Pitt have given a– a million dollars to aid refugees and displaced people in Pakistan. As you said, two to three million people there have fled the fighting. It’s actually the largest, as you know the largest mass movement of people I think since the Rwandan genocide. I was amazed to learn, though, that only the United States has given really large amounts of aid. They’ve given more than $300 million. Does it shock you or– or concern you that European countries, even some– even Muslim Arab countries, according to the Pakistan government, have largely ignored the crisis?

ANGELINA JOLIE: Yes. And I think they should– they should pay attention to what’s happening. It’s– it’s a very– gee, I’m not a political person. But I think it doesn’t take much to understand that this is the frontline of us fighting against extremists where– where all– all that we hold dear and all that we value is really on the line. This– this fight is a very personal fight for all of us. And– and– these– these victims of this crisis, these– these regular people who are mostly agriculturalists that are fleeing are– are, you know, we– we should– we should feel a real connection to– to them, identify with them. This is a similar enemy that we’ve been fighting for years. This is– but this moment right now, this situation and– and keeping it stable is in all of our best interests. The– it’s unimaginable what could happen if– if in fact the extremists do gain ground. And– and these– you know, so– so, yes, I think not just– so I think at least what we can be doing is– is assisting the humanitarian crisis and assisting the people and the desperate families and the children. And I think all countries have a responsibility to do that. And– and they certainly are able to. And I think more should step in.

On explaining her travels to camps and refugees to her children:

ANDERSON COOPER: On– on a personal level, when you go to a place like Afghanistan, do you worry? I mean, do your kids worry? How do you explain to them what you’re doing?

ANGELINA JOLIE: My kids are– some of my kids are from countries that have seen conflict. And– and I think– I usually just explain to them that there are other families in the world that aren’t as fortunate as ours and other kids. And their mommies and– are– are somewhere in a country that’s not as safe. And their kids are in a country that aren’t as safe. And they’re not as fortunate as we are.

And so I tell them that it’s important for all of us to– to do what we can and then go to these places and understand what’s happening. So I think they– they’re just being raised that this is the– the normal thing to do. And if I don’t worry them. But– you know, Hopefully I’ll take them to as many countries as I can and raise them with an education of the world.

On what stories stay with her after visiting these camps:

ANDERSON COOPER: You’re– you’re meeting, I mean, hundreds of refugees at a time. And– and I guess there– there’s a danger that– that everything starts to look the same. The stories, you probably hear the same stories over and over. And yet each person is an individual and each person has– has a story and a tale to tell. Are– are there individuals that– that you keep thinking about, I mean, people who you remember who– who, you know, who stay with you?

ANGELINA JOLIE: Yes. I spoke about some of them today. There was– I’m gonna be– I hate crying (LAUGHTER) (UNINTEL). I– I– well, there was– there was– god, there’s– there’s quite a few. There’s that person I’m sure in your travels you met. There’s that first person you meet that you see them– fighting to survive. And you– and you know that they passed away– and– and you couldn’t do anything to stop it. And especially young people.

There was a young boy I met who was about 15 who had been shot– in the back and paralyzed. And– and– his whole family had been killed and he was completely on his own. And– and he just had the sweetest face and the most beautiful– he was so kind and so– but he was by himself. And he– they– they were unable to give him any– any assistance. And– and– and yet he had this really remarkable, unbreakable spirit, a spirit beyond anything I can imagine having– the things we complain about on a daily basis. He had lost everything.

And– and– and was– just so full of laughter and kindness. And– and he passed away a few months after I was there. And so I always wondered– you know, so it’s those kind of– young people that you meet and you just thank, god, in any other situation, if this person had been given a chance, what an extraordinary adult he would have been. How extraordinary for his country, for his family, if he ever had a chance to have one. But instead he had so many horrible things happen to him in his life. And– but he taught me a lot about just the strength and spirit. I– I think of him and I– I can’t complain about anything. I can’t do anything but be grateful for what I have because he was grateful and he had nothing and had suffered everything. So there are many– and there are millions like him. So there are many, many stories.

How her trips affect herself and her family:

ANDERSON COOPER: Have they changed the way that you view yourself, the way you view your own family, your own kids?

ANGELINA JOLIE: Absolutely. I guess in more ways than I can probably understand. I just know that I– that I want– I think of my children’s education. And more than thinking I wanna make sure they understand math or they’re really good at this or they have their– I just– I wanna make sure they go out into the world as I’ve been fortunate enough to do in whatever way they can and– and really see the way other people live and meet these other children that– that are so strong, that are so grateful to have– you know, with so little and– and– and are such strong survivors. And I think by– by witnessing them, by meeting them, by making friends with these type of people and these type of children, it will make my children better people as they get older. And– so I– I hope–

ANDERSON COOPER: So you’ll take them to refugee camps?

ANGELINA JOLIE: I hope to have that influence on my family. I will. I have in the past, yeah.

ANGELINA JOLIE: Mad’s gone to– to the Thai border often.

And about birthdays:

ANDERSON COOPER: Yeah, and just one final question which I gotta ask. I know you have a bunch of birthdays coming up for your kids. How do you deal with multiple birthdays?

ANGELINA JOLIE: I do have the twins and I just had Shai (PH Shiloh) in May. And we had– we have so many kids that we just have year-round birthdays. (LAUGHTER) We just have a rotating– it’s just fun, you know? It’s a lot of fun now ’cause the older kids are old enough to help plan the birthdays for the younger kids. So it’s– it’s just– it’s one of the great pleasures of life, the birthdays.

Here are a few videos from Angelina’s touching appearance in Washington for World Refugee Day. I’ve also been told that there are photos of Brad straddling his bike (yes, I did have to say it that way, thank you!) and I’m looking to see if my photo source has some now!

Here are a few videos of Angelina Jolie at World Refugee Day!

New Photos! Angelina Jolie, Maddox and Pax Fly Into Washington D.C.

by Randi

SPL107755_002

Awhile ago Brad was in Washington, and now Angelina is! Angelina Jolie flew into Washington D.C. this morning with her two sons, Maddox and Pax, and will be speaking about World Refugee Day with Secretary of State Hilary Clinton.

And always one to put her money where her mouth is, together Brad and Angie have donated $1 Million dollars to help displaced people in Pakistan.

Enjoy the new pics of Angie and the boys (as grainy as they are) and I’ll post the pics of her and Secretary Hilary Clinton as soon as they come out!

Updated: Angelina was supposed to speak with Hilary Clinton, but the Secretary of State had to cancel her appearance there as she fell and I believe sprained her elbow. Angelina, however, is definitely due to be there.

Angelina Jolie and World Refugee Day

by Randi

Hey guys - sorry, I was buried underneath a huge project yesterday and have only just managed to dig myself out enough to check on the news for the Jolie-Pitt family.

What I found made me really mad that I didn’t have time yesterday to check! This PSA, recorded by Angelina Jolie, is for World Refugee day, which is this Saturday, June 20th. Rumors have it that Angelina Jolie is going to be doing much more for the day, and she’s already started by filming this amazing PSA: watch…

Every time I see this little PSA it makes me tingle.

How can you remember refugees on World Refugee Day? Here are some ideas thanks to iAct.

1. Participate in a live web streaming from Chad refugee camps. Follow our team as they capture the daily life and special WRD events. Ask questions via the live chat, and spread the word via your online social networks.

2. In solidarity with and in honor of the theme, Real People, Real Needs, fast from midnight to midnight for WRD - join here.

3. During the World Refugee Day web streaming, invite a few friends and family to your home to share in the experience. The live streaming and chat offer the opportunity for you to actively deepen the relationship between your community and refugees. Making our very large world personal is part of the long term solution that can create peace, justice and equality.

I know that I will be using the day to explain to my children what refugees are in a language that they can understand. At 8 and 5 I know that they can understand quite a bit and I feel that it is very important that they learn about people in other countries and the struggles that some are going through.

Do you have any plans for World Refugee Day?

Pitt Family Donates $1 Million to Help Create the St. John’s Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center

by Randi

pittfamily

Pictured above is William and Jane Pitt, and Doug and Lisa Pitt.

Here’s one thing that I absolutely love about the Pitt family - they’re always willing to lend a hand. And this time it’s given me chills. It was just announced that the family has donated a substantial amount of money in order to help transform their local hospital, St. John’s, into a St. Jude’s Research Affiliate.

St. John’s is expanding its children’s hospital services and hiring the region’s first pediatric hematology/oncology physician. To make this possible, the Pitt family, Doug and Lisa Pitt and Rob and Julie Neal donated $1 million to establish an endowment fund from which cancer specialists will be paid. In honor of their mother, the center will be renamed St. John’s Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center.

When Mike Peters announced the new name Saturday at a dinner, Jane Pitt wiped away tears. Doug Pitt patted his mother on the arm before getting up to make a speech on his family’s behalf.

The members there talked about how difficult it was when a child was diagnosed with Cancer and had to go far away for treatment, causing the parents to often have to quit their jobs in order to go with their children.

“What a life-consuming and scary time for these families who are often split apart geographically,” Pitt said. “We can help some of those families right here in the Ozarks. That is the goal.”

The Pitt siblings and their spouses donated $1 million in honor of their mother, whom Doug referred to as “awesome.”

“She’s always had a heart for kids and giving back and this was one of those things that just fit,” Pitt said. “She’s the eternal peacemaker. She’s an extremely giving, extremely caring person. She’s just extremely kind and sensitive. That’s our mom.”

Jane Pitt is a former teacher and “professional grandmother,” Pitt joked.

When the St. John’s Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center opens this summer, it will temporarily be located on the fifth floor of the hospital’s west pavilion.

There are future plans to add a new 31-bed pediatric unit, a 10-bedroom hospital-based Ronald McDonald House; and double the size of the neonatal intensive and pediatric intensive care units.

Other pediatric specialists, like an pediatric endocrinologist, will be hired.

To see the rest of this great article, head here, and you can watch the video, where Doug talks about his mother, below.

Weekend Discussion: What Questions Would You Ask Brad and Angie?

by Randi

old-photo

(wow - isn’t that an old photo!)

I love interviews with Brad and Angie - I love hearing them talk about their children or their movies…basically anything! But I am getting kind of annoyed about the fact that we generally hear the same questions asked by all reporters, including questions like:

How are the kids?
Are you going to have any more kids?
When are you going to get married?

I know that these are the three biggest questions that there are, but, at the same time, we all know how Brad and Angie will answer them - something like this:

How are the kids? They’re great!
Are you going to have any more kids? We haven’t ruled that out yet.
When are you going to get married? We’ll probably get married if and when the kids want us to.

I know we all can come up with better questions than that! So I’m asking you hardcore Jolie-Pitt fans, what questions would you ask Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt if you were lucky enough to get to interview them (after you fainted, of course)…
