Looking for a Christmas Gift?
Sunday, October 28th, 2007
Christmas is right around the corner, so what do you get your loved one? Let’s talk about getting some music! One of my favorite songs comes from the Mr. and Mrs. Smith soundtrack. It’s by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros and is called Mondo Bongo. It’s the first song you really hear (when Angie taunts Brad into dancing) and it’s the LAST song you hear (when they’re having the gun-fight in the department store). Last February my husband and I were snowed in for Valentines day. I had JUST downloaded this song and the next thing I knew we were doing the horizontal mambo while the song played on repeat! This is truly one extremely sexy song.
There are other great songs on the cd, including “Nothin’ but A Good Time” by Poison (my husband had a fit when he heard this song - he started re-living his teen years), “Tainted Love” (a personal favorite of mine), and “Lay Lady Lay”. Here is the list of songs:
Love Stinks – The J. Geils Band
Nothin’ But a Good Time – Poison
Tainted Love – Soft Cell
Baby, Baby – Alana D
Express Yourself (Mocean Worker Remix) – Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band
Mondo Bongo - Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros
Lay Lady Lay – Magnet featuring Gemma Hayes
I’ll Melt With You – Nouvelle Vague
Nobody Does It Better – 8mm (band)
Let’s Never Stop Falling in Love – Pink Martini
Tango De Los Asesinos (Assassin’s Tango) – John Powell
Used to Love Her (But I Had To Kill Her) - Voodoo Glow Skulls
You Are My Sunshine – Stine J.
You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’ – The Righteous Brothers
Making Love Out of Nothing At All - Air Supply
You Give Love a Bad Name – Atreyu
Love Will Keep Us Together – Captain and Tennille
This is a CD that any music lover would love to get! I’m putting it on my Christmas list - I’m surprised I don’t have it yet! If you’ve got some great Christmas gift ideas, whether they’re Brad related or not, comment or e-mail me and we’ll put them up for everyone to see!!
On a side note, I was extremely sad to do research for this article and to discover that Joe Strummer has passed away late last year due to an undiagnosed heart defect.
Also, just to let you know, there’s a new writer, JM, over at Long Relationships who is discovering some interesting things!
