Letter to Rosanne Barr
jon voight your evil spawn angelina jolie and her vacuous hubby brad pitt make about forty million dollars a year in violent psychopathic movies and give away three of it to starving children trying to look as if they give a crap about humanity as they spit out more dunces that will consume more than their fair share and wreck the earth even more. (just sayin’).
Also miss jolie says she likes mccain too and hasn’t decided who to endorse….huh? Aren’t you supposed to be somewhat enlightened, or do you not know that the african daughter you hold in every picture had parents who suffered and died because of the republican party’s worldwide economic assault on africa over the last few decades since reagan? whaaaa…??????!!!! (for that matter, the thai and cambodian sons you are photo’d with weekly too who’s pictures you sell to raise money to help the poor? Their families are victims of America’s right wing military incursions too. Mccain wants to continue with the idea of war for profit…the americans are over that thinking now! They have drugged our troops and lower classes into supporting their oil business atrocities for long enough. We want to save not lose our souls thank you. Now go back to making your movies about women who love to handle big guns that shoot hundreds of people to death. Ps….it might be good for your asian and african children’s self esteem to know you support a brown man for the leader of the free world.)

Dear Ms. Barr,
First of all, can you do me a little favor? The next time you write a post, try using spell check first? Thanks so much.
I am absolutely a woman who believes that you have ever right to speak your mind. You have the right to say who you want to be president, and you have the right to tell people what your opinion is. You also have the right to keep your opinion to yourself.
Maybe Angelina and Brad don’t want the world to know who they are voting for. Maybe they want to focus on their numerous charitable works instead of getting into the political hoopla that causes even the most brilliant of people to develop sudden, horrible migraines. Maybe they want to spend some of their time enjoying their “dunces” and trying to be parents to them, unlike many Hollywood A-listers, and are working on teaching them values and about how to be good people. Maybe they know exactly who they want to vote for, and are just waiting for the elections to come around so that, like normal people, they can place their votes and make their votes count.
Ms. Barr, not everyone has to publicly endorse a presidential candidate. If the average Joe Schmoe has the right to keep his voting opinions to himself, why can’t Angelina and Brad? So what if Angelina likes McCain - I’m not a McCain fan myself, but the last time I checked, people in the United States had the right to vote for whomever THEY felt was most qualified to run the country, not whomever you felt was the most qualified.
Ms. Barr, you absolutely have the right to voice your opinion, just as I have the right to tell you that your opinion stinks.

This is a fantastic post Randi, your letter is great. Roseanne is a scary combination of someone who is both completely nuts and an attention seeker so I’m not surprised at her mean comments. I love Brad and Angelina and they are definitely doing more than their share to help others!

I love your response to Roseanne and thats the way it should be, no hatred, no insinuations, very calm approach to a vicious attack to our favorite humanitarian celebrities in hollywood. When I was in high school, I have learned from my religion class that ” Idle minds are the workshop of the devil” and since Roseanne has nothing to be busy with, she hurls despicable remarks to the Brangelina clan coz like everyone has said, she is seeking attention desperately at the expense of the family. Having said all of these, it only strengthens the love and respect and adulation I have for the Jolie-PittS. Cheers to all the fans.

Let me begin by saying how brave I think Jon Voight is. It shows incredible courage to not toe the party line in Hollywood. His voicing of an opinion that is contrary to the “mainstream” liberal Hollywood elitists has undoubtedly doomed his professional life. Still, in spite of the backlash, he remained true to himself and dared to voice an opinion that differed from the Leftist Dictatorship that is Hollywood. Funny, I thought this was a free country. I thought that what made this country great was that we had the freedom to think, believe, and worship as we pleased. The liberals act as though they are so concerned with our Civil Rights yet it appears, in Hollywood, that if you intend on working in the industry, you MUST wave the liberal flag. What happened to freedom of speech? The right to vote? Protection from discrimination? It doesn’t seem like these rights are being afforded Jon Voight in Hollywood. Is Hollywood not a part of our great nation? Are we not a democracy? Sounds more like a dictatorship to me.
I love America and all it stands for. I believe we are the best nation in the world. I also believe that Obama would be the worst thing for this great country. Do I believe that I should bash everyone who supports Obama? No. Do I believe that those who don’t support Obama should risk losing jobs because of their opposition? No. As a teacher who lives in a “blue state,” my opinions are shunned upon. The NEA is most assuredly liberal, and I learned that if I want to stay happily employed I must either claim to be a liberal or keep my mouth shut. As I can not profess to be anything I am not, I keep my mouth shut. Thankfully I get to express myself at the polls without the risk being ostracized as a result.
What it boils down to is this. I will not vote for Obama but you can. I won’t list the myriad of reasons why I think he will be disastrous for our country. Why? Because I learned a long time ago that people, especially at this point in an election, have already made up their minds. I won’t insult you or spew hatred because you don’t think or believe as I do. I respectfully and proudly acknowledge your right to not think the way I do. I will, however, pray that Obama does not become our next President. But, if he does, I will respect him as the leader of our great Nation.
As a child, my parents told me that if I didn’t have something nice to say, to say nothing at all. Wouldn’t that be great if politics ran the same way? That is, if all any of us uttered were words of praise for our candidate and didn’t resort to bashing and criticizing those who didn’t support our candidate?
As far as Roseanne Barr goes, I won’t bother to respond to someone who is so obviously ignorant to the facts and full of venomous hatred that she resorts to attacking children and people (Brad and Angelina) she admits she doesn’t even know. I find it disgusting that she would suggest to Angelina that “It might be good for your Asian and African children’s self esteem to know you support a brown man for the leader of the free world.”
What exactly is she saying? One should vote for Obama JUST because he has brown skin? After all the years of fighting in this country to make skin color a “non-issue,” her way of thinking clearly sets us back to a time that I had hoped we all evolved away from. Shouldn’t the candidate’s experience, goals, plans and dreams for out country be the basis for our support?
To me, her comments were typical of her ilk – the Hollywood liberals. I only hope that if McCain wins, that she might consider getting on the first boat out of the US with Barbara Streisand and Alec Baldwin. (Weren’t they supposed to leave years ago? Guess you can’t take them at their promises.)
I would offer Ms. Barr this bit of advice though “it is better to remain silent and let them think you a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.” Oh, too late!
