Pax’s Name Change - but no adoption?
by Randi

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have now officially filed paperwork to change Pax Jolie’s name to Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt.
I have noticed, though, that it does NOT say that Brad is formally adopting Angelina’s son. From what I know of adoptions, generally the adoption is done first, and the name change comes with it.
How come they are merely changing Pax’s name?

Why are you always looking for the negative and trouble? The fact is they are a family and whether he adopts or not is none of anyone’s business. You just keep looking for a negative. I thought this was a pro Brad and Angie site. I guess I was wrong. See ya.

It’s no different than with Mad and Zee. It was just a name change with Brad as legal guardian. Why everyone says Brad adopted them is beyond me — I have yet to see the proof of adoption. Only the proof of a name change with Mad and Zee.
I agree that they are a family and that is the most important thing.

You will find no proof because adoption papers are SEALED. Name change documents are NOT sealed which is why TMZ can go down to a courthouse & get copies.

That is correct…adoption papers/records are sealed and can not be accessed by the press. Brad has, indeed, adopted both Maddox and Zahara. It was confirmed in a reputable publication (Newsweek) in the article Brad gave about New Orleans when they first got back from Shiloh being born (I think it was a May or June 2006 issue.
Because Brad and Angelina didn’t have the inclination to announce the completion of Brad’s first two adoptions, it is not surprising that they haven’t noted the beginning of the process for Pax. It’s implied it is beginning with the name change process. Good for them, I say!
